A local cafe wants to help families who don't have the means to access the remote learning provided by schools, during lockdown.

The Hutong Cafe is asking people to donate any laptops or tablets to families in need.

In a post on Facebook, the cafe wrote:

"Following the announcement of the lockdown, the closure of schools, and the subsequent remote learning requirement for children, we are humbly asking any and all of our customers and friends if they have any unused working laptops or tablets that can be donated to those families who do not have the means to provide a device for each of their children.

"Many families in our community will not have the means to access the remote learning provided by their schools (through no fault of the school, might we add) and we as a community have a shared responsibility to help these children and families learn, grow and develop, even in the face of such gargantuan challenges. A laptop or tablet will be transformative for children during this lockdown.

"We are aware that this is a huge ask from the community, but as we are still building a kitchen, and so cannot feed mouths, we will do our damn best to feed minds instead."
