Plymouth Argyle postpone matches
Plymouth Argyle FC can confirm that the Greens’ upcoming Sky Bet League One fixtures against Portsmouth and AFC Wimbledon have been postponed.
In line with the EFL’s enhanced guidance and protocols for COVID-19, Plymouth Argyle informed the EFL early on Tuesday that a combination of positive COVID cases and player injuries left the squad below the minimum numbers required to play this week's matches.
As a precaution, the club’s training ground, Harper’s Park, has been closed.
Tickets remain valid for the rescheduled fixtures, with new dates to be confirmed in due course.
The club will notify all supporters of the rescheduled dates as soon as they are confirmed.
In a statement, the EFL said "Plymouth Argyle’s Sky Bet League One fixtures versus Portsmouth on Wednesday 29 December and AFC Wimbledon on Saturday 1 January have been postponed.
"Plymouth Argyle informed the EFL that it would be unable to fulfil the fixtures at Home Park due to a number of positive COVID-19 cases in their squad.
"In light of the increased transmission rate of the Omicron variant, the EFL will now review the circumstances surrounding the postponement. In addition it will assist affected Clubs throughout this challenging period to help them mitigate against the risk of infection amongst players and staff, while ensuring their obligations to the EFL regulations are maintained.
"A rearranged date for the fixture will be confirmed in due course."
