Two rescued after plane lands in River Axe

Firefighters have rescued two people from a plane that had to make an emergency landing in the River Axe.

It came to land at a stretch of the river in Musbury on Tuesday 1st August, with fire crews being called out at 1.55pm.

One fire appliance from Seaton, one fire appliance from Colyton, the rescue tender from Yeovil, a 4x4 appliance from Bridport and two duty officers were sent to the scene, with the plane being located with the help of a military helicopter and What 3 Words.

When they arrived, they found two people had climbed out of the aircraft and needed rescuing from the wing.

The pair weren't seriously hurt, but handed to the ambulance service for precautionary checks.
