People have been travelling to see the fire that broke out on Dartmoor overnight.

The huge flames could be seen from Plymouth, Saltash and across to Launceston.

People were reacting to the event online as it was unfolding, with many making 'non-essential journeys' to catch a glimpse.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said they were aware of this and urged people to stay away from the area.

Currently two 4x4 vehicles are watching from various vantage points, the local fire service say "no significant fire spread has been identified".

Windy conditions last night made it difficult for teams to tackle the blaze.

DCFO Joe Hassell gave an update overnight from the scene:

"The fire is on 2 fronts and very difficult to access over dangerous terrain and in freezing conditions. Please keep safe and stay at home."

The public have been showing their support to Devon and Somerset Fire online, with many urging crews to 'stay safe'.

Karen Grant said her husband was one of the many working to put out the fire.

More updates will follow throughout the day.
