A peace walk will take place though Plymouth tomorrow to call for an end to violence against women and girls.

It aims to raise awareness of the 'orange the world' campaign - with major city landmarks like the Theatre Royal and Smeaton's Tower also being lit orange.

Elle Vuitton, President of Soroptimist International, Plymouth and District said: "The walk is open to all genders of all ages, walkers will be gathering from 2pm on the green near the rear entrance to Drake Circus shopping mall by Marks and Spencer.

"The walk will start at 2.30pm at the top of Cornwall Street and end at the Nancy Astor statue on The Hoe at around 4.30pm.

"The deputy Lord Mayor will open the march and we will be joined by individuals and women from many professional women’s organisations, Alexis Bowater OBE, AND Trevi who will receive any monies collected during the walk,.

"The walk is to mark the International Day of Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls on 25th November, which falls within the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day."
