Major Incident Portal launched as police gather evidence on Plymouth shooting
Devon & Cornwall Police have issued an update on the investigation and a fresh appeal for information
An online reporting platform has been launched after the mass shooting in Plymouth.
Gunman Jake Davison killed his mum, a three-year-old girl and three others in Keyham.
The 22-year-old, who lived in the city, then turned the gun on himself.
As police try to piece together exactly what happened, they are urging people with any information that could help the investigation to use the new Major Incident Portal.
In a fresh update, officers said post-mortems are being carried out and will continue into next week.
Enquiries at the scene are ongoing and cordons will be lifted gradually "when appropriate".
Devon and Cornwall Police have also confirmed an injured man and woman are recovering in hospital.
What do we know about the investigation so far?
Police said: "Enquiries are continuing at the scene and cordons remain in place. These will be closed gradually when appropriate.
"Post-mortems are taking place and will continue into early next week.
"Families of the victims are being supported by specialist officers and we ask that their privacy is respected during this difficult time.
"A 53-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man, who were injured during the incident on Thursday 12 August, are recovering in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries".
Major Incident Portal launched to report information
Devon & Cornwall Police said: "Police are continuing to appeal for information following a shooting incident in Keyham, Plymouth, which left six people dead.
"An online page has been launched and anyone who may be able to help the investigation - who has not already spoken with officers – is being urged to come forward.
"It offers an easy way for members of the public to report information direct to us".
The force added: "Anyone with information who does not have access to the portal can also contact our Major Crime Investigation Team quoting Op Lillypad on 01752 487880 or by emailing 101@dc.police.uk.
"Information can also be passed anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555111, or via <a class="article-body-link" href="http://www.crimestoppers-uk.org"">www.crimestoppers-uk.org".
Devon and Cornwall Police investigated over shotgun license
The police watchdog (IOPC) is to investigate Devon and Cornwall Police over gunman Jake Davison's possession of a shotgun and shotgun certificate, which were returned to him in July.
A spokesperson for the IOPC said: "The Independent Office for Police Conduct has decided to investigate Devon and Cornwall Police’s decision-making in relation to Jake Davison’s possession of a shotgun and shotgun certificate.
"The investigation follows a mandatory referral from the force which contains preliminary information that Mr Davison’s shotgun certificate and a shotgun were returned to him in early July this year. The certificate and shotgun had been removed from Mr Davison by police in December 2020 following an allegation of assault in September 2020".
Police said: "The circumstances surrounding Jake Davison’s shotgun certificate, and any information Devon and Cornwall Police had relating to him, are now the subject of an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). We are therefore unable to comment further. The force is fully cooperating with the IOPC's enquiries".
Community drop-in centres opened to support those affected
Community drop-in centres are open for Keyham residents at St Mark’s Church and Ford Primary School in Plymouth from 10am to 5pm on Sunday 15 August.
Organisations will be on hand to offer support as well as signpost members of the community to further services.
