Murder investigation launched in Wembury

A man's been found dead

Police have launched a murder investigation following the suspicious death of a man in Wembury, Plymouth.

Officers and paramedics were called around 10.15am on Thursday 17 December following concerns for the welfare of a man at an address in Hawthorn Drive.

On arrival officers found the man deceased at the scene. Formal identification is yet to be carried out.

Detectives from Devon and Cornwall Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team have launched a murder enquiry to establish the circumstances of the man’s death.

They are appealing for anyone who may have information which could assist with the investigation to contact police.

Detective Chief Inspector Rachael Bentley, of Devon and Cornwall Major Crime Investigation Team, said:

"The enquiry is being led by specialist investigators from the Major Crime Investigation Team.

"People can expect to see an increased level of police activity in and around the property in the coming days.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have information which could assist with our investigation to get in touch.

*We would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard any suspicious behaviour around the Hawthorn Drive area between Sunday 13 December and Thursday 17 December."

A cordon remains in place at the address and house-to-house enquiries are being conducted in the area.
