Torbay's MP's criticised plans to close the TSB branch in Torquay's St Marychurch- and ask customers to drive to Exmouth instead.

Kevin Foster says he's now seeking a meeting with bank bosses - and claims the decision was made without what he calls 'serious consideration'

He's told us, "The idea it's a convenient journey to go 29.6 miles to the branch in Exmouth is literally for the birds - it's a stupid argument, and shows no knowledge of our local geography.

"I hope to raise with them the impact for their local customers, and what consideration they've made to those who need additional help with doing things like registering apower of attorney, closing the account of a loved one who's passed away - things that are a lot harder to do online."

TSB has said it is shutting 36 bank branches across the UK as part of efforts to move to a better balance of digital and face-to-face services.

It said its customers were now doing most of their banking digitally.

The latest round of closures will leave the group with 175 branches across the country, as well as other face-to-face banking services.

The Torquay branch is set to close in September.
