Mourners will today celebrate the life of a Devon homeless man at his funeral.

Almost £2,000 has been crowdfunded for the funeral of Stephen Cook - known as Cookie - who died in Exeter in January.

A man's been charged with the murder of the father of two and is due to go on trial later this year.

Stephen's funeral is at 12.20pm at Barnstaple crematorium and mourners are asked to bring a painted pebble, which will be turned into a commemorate art work - as he was known for decorating stones as gifts.

In a post online, Stephen's daughter Danni said: "We truly want to give him a beautiful send off he deserves.

"He had a very troubled life as many of you know and we want to create a lovely ceremony so we can finally lay him to rest and give him the peace he deserves and would’ve wanted.

"Any amount would be highly appreciated. We all love him so much and will be doing our best to see justice and hope that our Dad will fly high and sleep well."
