Man dies and four others in hospital after crash in Tavistock

A 46-year-old man has died and four others, including a young child, are in hospital after a crash near Tavistock.
We understand that the young child has suffered life-threatening injuries, with three others suffering minor injuries in the incident, which happened yesterday afternoon (August 26).
It happened at Iron Railings Cross, involving two cars - with police today issuing an appeal for witnesses to come forward.
We're told the incident involved a Vauxhall Astra and a Kia Rio at Iron Railings Cross, on an unnamed road near Tavistock at around 12.55pm.
The man who died was the front seat passenger in the Kia, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
His next of kin have been told.
The road reopened in the early hours of this morning, and a man in his 30s from Peterborough has been released on bail pending further investigations.
Devon and Cornwall Police said: "A man in his 30s from Peterborough has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He has been released on bail, pending further investigations.
