Man dies after crash in Plympton

Emergency services attended the scene and the road was closed for some time

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash in Plymouth.

It happened on the A38 Plympton off-slip yesterday morning (1 August) and involved one vehicle.

A man in his 50s was taken to hospital, but has since died.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"At around 11.30am on Sunday 1 August, emergency services were notified of a single-vehicle road traffic collision involving a Ford Fiesta on the A38 Deep Lane off-slip at Plympton, Plymouth.

"Paramedics and police attended. The driver of the vehicle, a man aged in his 50s, was taken to Derriford Hospital, where he was later pronounced as deceased.

"The Plympton off-slip was closed to allow for an examination of the scene and recovery of the vehicle.

"Officers from the Roads Policing Team are appealing for witnesses of the incident to come forward."
