Man dies after collision with van in Modbury

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision in Modbury.

It happened in Broad Street yesterday morning (6 July), involving a van and a pedestrian.

The male pedestrian suffered a serious head injury, which was deemed "unsurvivable".

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"At 1144hrs on the 6th July 2021 Police were notified of a Van v Pedestrian Road Traffic Collision on the main road through Modbury Town.

"The collision location was outside of the Post office on Broad Street Modbury.

"The male pedestrian has come into contact with the van whist crossing the road causing the male to fall and sustain a serious head injury.

"Medical treatment was immediately administered, and the male conveyed to Derriford Hospital where it was quickly established that he had a head injury that was deemed unsurvivable.

"The pedestrian sadly passed away at 1400hrs within Resus at Derriford.

"Next-of-kin have been informed."

Any witnesses to the collision and especially any drivers with dash cam are asked to come forward to police quoting log 356 of the 6th July 2021.
