Man arrested after Torquay stabbing

Police were called to Castle Circus on Tuesday afternoon

Police have arrested a man in connection with a stabbing in Torquay.

Officers were called to Castle Circus at 12.20pm after reports of an attack.

A man is currently in hospital, but the extent of his injuries isn't yet known.

A woman who works nearby came out with a stab kit to help the victim - the woman, who didn't want to be named, has told us, "We came back in, we grabbed the stab proof equipment to hand to police which they applied to his abdomen, and obviously he's now getting medical attention."

A 49-year-old man from Paignton has been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.

He has been taken into police custody.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident and anyone with information to call 101 or report it on the force website quoting log 363 of 26/11/24.
