A man from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

A man has been arrested as detectives continue to investigate a serious assault in Plymouth on Saturday (23 August).

Officers were called by the ambulance service at around 9.05pm after a man was located with serious injuries on Pembroke Lane, Plymouth.

It was reported that a man in his 30s sustained several puncture wounds in an assault and was taken to Derriford Hospital in a critical condition. His injuries have since been confirmed as not life threatening or life changing.

Following enquiries, it has been established that he sustained his injuries while in a car on Beaumont Street.

A 37-year-old man from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has been released on bail, pending further enquiries.

Deputy Senior Investigating Officer, Acting Detective Sergeant Andrew Trott-Rodgers said:

“We are continuing to appeal for witnesses for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Beaumont Street area between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on Saturday 23 August to please contact us."

“We believe there is no wider risk to the general public."
