Man arrested after suspected grenade found in Plymouth
Police were called to Derry Street last night and cordoned off the area
A man has been arrested after a police incident in Plymouth last night (22 June).
Officers were called to Derry Street with a report that he had a grenade.
The area was cordoned off, whilst the Royal Navy's EOD team attended to remove the object.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:
"Police were called to Derry Street, Plymouth at around 5pm yesterday evening Tuesday 22 June, with a report that a man had a grenade.
"Firearms officers attended and a man was detained at around 7.30pm and a cordon of approximately 100-metres was put in place as a precaution while the Royal Navy's EOD team attended to remove the object.
"The cordon was removed at around 11pm."
Police say their enquiries are continuing this morning.
