The Minister for Employment is in Devon today, meeting bosses from Langage Farm to discuss recruitment
Mims Davies will talk through how their recruitment through Job Centres and the Way to Work campaign – a national push to get half a million more people into work by the end of June.
The latest figures out today show the number of people on company payrolls in the UK rose by 90-thousand between April and May.
But the Office for National Statistics says the new figures show a 'mixed picture' for the labour market.
Unemployment is close to a 50-year low - but the number in work remains below pre-pandemic levels.
The chancellor says the stats show the jobs market 'remains robust'.
Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak said:
“Today’s stats show our jobs market remains robust with redundancies at an all time low.
“Helping people into work is the best way to support families in the long term, and we are continuing to support people into new and better jobs.
“We are also providing immediate help with rising prices - 8 million of the most vulnerable families will receive at least £1,200 of direct payments this year, with all families receiving £400.”
