"I sympathise very much" says the PM to Devon's lady in a van
Greatest Hits Radio's been praised by a Devon food bank after raising the plight of a woman living in a van with the Prime Minister.
We've asked the Prime Minister about a woman, 60, living in a van in Devon as a result of the rising cost of living.
She and her partner currently take turns sleeping in the van - which has enough room for one person to sleep in at a time - after he was made redundant and had to take a lower paying job.
The partner now works nights and so she parks outside his workplace for an evening sleep, while he sleeps during the daytime - something she describes as 'lonely'.
Councillor David Cox, chair of the Hits food bank in Teignbridge has been trying to help the pair - who he says only came into contact with the charity after the woman was told by her doctor to seek help.
Cllr Cox says the pair were seen - at first - as making themselves intentionally homeless by moving into the van to cut costs. They are now getting support from a local council and charities.
