Fundraising event to help disadvantaged youngsters access instruments
A new community interest company is being created
There's a fundraising event this weekend to help youngsters in Devon access the local music scene.
The event, at Move and Bomba at Exeter Quay today and tomorrow, is to help get the equipment needed for the new not-for-profit Community Interest Company.
Colin Milkins, who is behind it, said: "I am currently setting up a not for profit Community Interest Company aimed at giving the music back to those that cant normally access the music scene, whether that’s gigs, events, festivals or even getting to play or learn an instrument.
"We want to do pop up events for the likes of special needs schools and homes and give them the experience that a lot of us take for granted in the safety of their own environment.
"Using DJs and musicians to play and teach plus also hand out donated second hand instruments to tap into peoples sense’s.Â
"Allowing disadvantaged individuals to experience the good vibration of music and how it can help you in life.
"We also aim to give people who may be an up and coming artist but simply cant afford the bit of equipment they need to progress in their musical career or even in elements that go with it like lighting and sound engineering.
"MilkLand has already helped a lot of people especially over the difficult period of Covid which has now led us to be where we are now.
"We have a very unique idea of what we are fundraising for which can take this cause wide and far and hasn’t been done yet."
