A fundraising album is being released next week to support the Devon-based Purple Angel dementia campaign.

The charity, which now works internationally, promotes dementia awareness and best practice and was founded by Norms McNamara who has the condition.

Singer Jennifer Bolton, who used to play Carmen in TV show Bread and was then known as Jenny Jay, is behind the release - and is also an ambassador for the charity.

Purple Angel already pre-load favourite songs onto an MP3 player and post them to the carer - which often helps the person with dementia to relax.

They are appealing for donations of old MP3s to help further the work - which, in some cases, has seen people dancing around the room.

A charity which loads MP3 players with music for dementia sufferers says it's on course to give out a record amount this year

Mr Mcnamara said: "Also on this album is the song "The Angels Will Listen' which was myself, Jennifer and John Purser.

"It will be £9.99 & will be available on iTunes & all digital platforms from 7th Sept - please order now.

All Proceeds from sales, every penny will be spent on the MP3s which we preload with the music of People Living With Dementia`s very own choice and sent out absolutely frtee to those with dementia in the UK."
