A severe weather warning for fog has been issued for the whole of Devon.

The Met Office says dense patches could cause reduced visibility across the county.

People are being urged to take care on the drive to work or on the school run this morning.

The yellow weather warning came into force at 3am and will last until 9am (Monday 6th September).

What to expect

Slower journey times with delays to bus and train services possible

There is a chance of delays or cancellations to flights

The Met Office said: "Patches of fog will reduce the visibility to less than 100 metres in places at first this morning.

"The fog will clear from most inland areas fairly quickly, although may persist around some coasts until later in the morning."

But the good news is the fog is set to lift later this morning, to leave a warm, dry and sunny day.

Here is what the forecast has in store over the next few days.

Today:

Any fog and mist patches from overnight will soon clear, leaving the day fine and dry with sunny spells. Feeling very warm to locally hot. Maximum temperature 26 °C.

Tonight:

Staying fine and dry to end the day with largely clear skies. Skies remaining clear for most through the night, bringing a risk of some fog patches. Minimum temperature 15 °C.

Tuesday:

Largely fine with prolonged sunshine. Turning breezy with a risk of the odd shower over Cornwall later. Feeling very warm to locally hot. Maximum temperature 28 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Heavy showers are possible on Wednesday and Thursday with a risk of thunder. Sunny spells on Friday with further showers. Turning cooler.
