Firefighters tackle blaze at derelict hotel in Torquay

Firefighters have been tackling a large blaze at a derelict hotel in Torquay.

Crews were called to The Coppice in Babbacombe at around 10.00pm last night (Wednesday 31 January).

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said six appliances and two aerial platforms along with supporting units were in attendance.

Residents were asked to keep their doors and windows closed.

This morning, the fire is out and police remain on the scene. We have contacted the fire service for an update.
