Children of NHS workers have "unforgettable" day with Plymouth Argyle
It was all part of the EFL Day of Action, involving 72 clubs across the country
Argyle and the Argyle Community Trust have joined forces, to offer an "unforgettable experience" for children of NHS workers.
It's all part of the EFL Day of Action on Wednesday (14 April), which sees all 72 member clubs host events which aim to give back to the communities that they represent.
In Argyle's case, the club has opted to recognise the crucial role that the NHS has played throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
30 children and their parents visited Home Park for a jam-packed day of activities.
They had an exclusive tour of the 'Theatre of Greens', as well as an exclusive training session on the Pilgrims' training ground, Harper's Park, followed by a picnic on the grass.
The day's activities were be rounded off by a question-and-answer session with members of the Argyle first-team squad.
Stewart Walbridge, the event lead for the Argyle Community Trust, said:
"Football has the ability to inspire, and we hope that by sharing this experience, we can instil a life-long passion for sport and Argyle.
"Most importantly, it is another opportunity to express our gratitude to tireless NHS workers."
The club has held a strong link with the NHS throughout the coronavirus crisis, becoming one of the first clubs to offer up facilities to ease the burden on local services.
Having initially served as a routine phlebotomy and antenatal centre, Home Park was converted into a vaccination centre in January, helping to vaccinate thousands of local residents per day.
Meanwhile, the club's community trust has been delivering food parcels to residents in need, and tackling loneliness during lockdown.
