Devon and Cornwall police were called to help paramedics with a "casualty on the moor".

Teams were called in the early hours of Thursday (14 April) morning, but were unfortunately initially sent to the wrong location.

They soon found it was a group of teenagers camping near Piles Copse - one had drunk too much alcohol and was unresponsive.

After being checked over by paramedics, he was discharged into the care of his parents.

A spokesperson for Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Plymouth said:

"Full team callout by the Devon & Cornwall Police to assist SWAST Ambulance with a “with a casualty on the moor”.

"Unfortunately the initial What 3 Words location given by SWAST was incorrect and the team had to relocate to a new RV. After discussion with the paramedics on the ground it was established that this was a group of teenagers camping on the moor near Piles Copse.

"One of the teenagers had drunk too much alcohol and was initially unresponsive. 3 of the group were back at the RV. The team Land Rover was dispatched up the track to meet up with the police and paramedic on scene. The remainder of the group of teenagers were then transported back to the RV.

"After being checked over by the paramedics, the teenager was discharged into the care of his parents. No doubt with a very sore head in the morning!

"Team stood down at 05:00 ready to go back to work."

In attendance at the callout - that lasted two hours - were 11 DSRTP, Devon and Cornwall Police, South Western Ambulance Service, NAPS Helicopter.
