An appeal has launched to help the family of a Cornish fisherman following a fatal incident off the coast.

Leigh Spencer, from the Torpoint area, died after a tragic incident onboard a boat on Saturday morning.

Now the 50-year-old's dad has set up a fundraiser to help his son's wife and kids and to cover the cost of his funeral.

The Just Giving page has already smashed its £10,000 pound target.

Leigh's dad described him as having a 'smile that would light up any room' as he paid tribute.

"Leigh was killed on Saturday the 6th February in a tragic accident aboard the fishing vessel he worked on. He leaves his wife Analiza and two young children, Theo and Issabella. We’ve started this page to raise money to cover Leigh‘s funeral arrangements, and also to provide for Analiza and the children now that their husband and father is no longer there for them.

"If you knew Leigh, then you’ll understand how devastated we all are at his loss. His smile would light up a room, and he was the instigator of much merriment. Joy and generosity are words that spring to mind when we think of him.

"’Spanner’ Spencer. Grieving father."
