Last updated 3rd May 2024
Alison Hernandez has been re-elected the Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon and Cornwall (PCC).
Hernandez stood as the Conservative Party candidate and won with 131,764 number of votes for her third term, ahead of Labour candidate Daniel Steel who finished second with 107,894.
Alison Hernandez said: "I'm really delighted that voters across Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly have turned out to support me as the Conservative candidate.
"I think it shows that when you focus on the things that are people's priorities people will come out and support you like I am theirs."
Responsibilities for the PCC include setting out force budgets, holding chief constables to account and providing a link between communities and police.
This year is the first occasion on which the Police and Crime Commissioner ballots have been counted using ‘first past the post’.
Police and Crime Commissioner elections previously used the ‘supplementary vote’ system, where voters could choose a first and second choice vote. Voters now choose a single candidate on the ballot paper. This is the same system as UK Parliamentary elections and local elections in England.
The other candidates who stood were Labour Party: Daniel Steel and Liberal Democrats: Steve Lodge.
Voting took place on Thursday 2 May between 07:00 and 22:00.
