Volunteers at Plymouth's Age UK are busy delivering Christmas hampers to over 400 older people in the city.
Christmas can be a very lonely time for many older people who live alone and have no family or friends nearby.
The charity has also supported hundreds of people across the city with practical and emotional support to help them manage during the pandemic.
Lynne Hodgson from the charity said:
"Those who have been unable to get out and about have been supported with food deliveries, shopping and prescription collections and our Phone Friends Service offers a valuable weekly call to those who are lonely or isolated.
"Christmas can be a very lonely time for many older people who live alone and have no family or friends nearby and Age UK Plymouth this year has been overwhelmed by the generous donations of hampers and festive treats that local businesses, schools and the general public have given which are currently being delivered to over 400 older people in the city by a group of fantastic volunteers who are selflessly donating their time to help others.
"Communities in Plymouth have really stepped up to help those most in need in their neighbourhoods and Age UK Plymouth hopes that this goodwill and much needed support will continue into 2021 and beyond."
