A38 at Landrake closed after serious collision involving multiple vehicles
The road is closed in both directions and both police and Highways say it is likely to remain closed for some time

The A38 is closed in both directions after a serious collision near Landrake.
A number of vehicles were involved in the crash this afternoon (Monday 19th April).
The Cornwall and Devon air ambulances were scrambled and police say there are believed to be “several casualties with serious injuries”.
The stretch from the A374 junction at Trerulefoot roundabout to A388 Carkeel roundabout is shut in both directions.
It is affecting motorists heading between Liskeard and the Tamar Bridge at Plymouth.
Eastbound traffic heading towards Plymouth is being directed by police towards the Torpoint Ferry, which were seeing waiting times of more than one hour.

What happened?
Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police were called to reports of a multi-vehicle collision on the A38 at Saltash at around 3pm today (19th April).
“There are believed to be several casualties with serious injuries.
“A number of road closures are in place to allow emergency services to deal with the situation.
“Devon Fire and Rescue Service and air ambulances from Devon and Cornwall are also attending the scene.
“Both carriageways will be closed to allow the air ambulances to land.
“The incident is ongoing and members of the public are being asked to avoid the area.
“Anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information is asked to email 101@dc.police.uk or call 101 and quote log number 0536 of 19 April 2021”.

Inrix Traffic and Travel says public transport has been affected, including the Torpoint ferries and local bus services.
"A38 in both directions closed, heavy traffic due to spillage and accident investigation work from A374 (Trerulefoot roundabout) to A388 (Carkeel Roundabout).
"The road remains closed following a serious accident near Landrake, affecting traffic heading between Liskeard and the Tamar Bridge at Plymouth.
"Eastbound traffic is being directed by police towards the Torpoint Ferry, causing long delays".

As of 7pm on Monday 19th of April, the road remained closed in both directions.
Highways England South West said it was likely to remain closed for most of the rest of the day and possibly into Tuesday 20th April.
