A hawk will scare away seagulls in Plymouth city centre
It's to prevent the gulls from nesting in the city
Plymouth City Council has got a new recruit, with the job of scaring away seagulls from the city centre.
Lido the harris hawk will be patrolling the skyline for the next few months, to stop the gulls from nesting.
The Council said:
"The gulls are a protected species but they can be a nuisance for a lot of people and visitors.
"Using a hawk like Lido to patrol the skies is a humane deterrent and is not intended for the gulls to be attacked or harmed.
"We hope its presence alone will be enough to scare the seagulls and encourage them to choose somewhere else to nest."
