Witness appeal after Oxford public order incident
It happened on Wednesday, in Jericho
Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses, after a public order incident in Oxford.
At around 3.30pm on Wednesday (5/11), near the junction of Walton Street, Walton Well Road, and Kingston Road in Jericho, two men had an argument, and one of them produced a knife. One of the men made racist remarks before both men left the scene on bicycles.
A 21-year-old man, of no fixed abode, was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
A 45-year-old man from High Wycombe was arrested on suspicion of theft of a pedal cycle and using threatening or abusive language intended to cause fear or provoke violence.
Both men have been bailed while further enquiries continue.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Christopher Gotch, said: “This incident occurred in broad daylight in a busy part of the city and we believe there may be witnesses who have yet to come forward.
“We are especially keen to hear from anyone who saw the incident or the people involved, or who may have dash-cam, mobile phone, or CCTV footage from the area.
“Any information, no matter how small, could be vital in helping us understand the full circumstances of what happened.”
