A policeman's been sacked by Thames Valley Police after being found to have raped a woman.

Jay Callen was dismissed after a misconduct panel decided that, on the balance of probabilities, he'd committed "appalling behaviour”.

Evidence was given in September 2022 and a Regulation 30 notice, indicating that a misconduct hearing would take place, was served to Jay Callen on the 13th March 2024.

The panel found in October of this year that the sexual violence was "amongst the most serious of acts that could be committed by any individual, let alone a warranted officer".

Mr Callen was also found to have put his hands around a woman's throat and pushed her up against a fence.

The firearms officer denied misconduct and his barrister said the claims were “lacking in detail”, which made it hard for him to answer them.

The panel concluded his behaviour was “intentional and deliberate” and it had to “consider the impact of violence against women and girls.”
