Thames Valley Police are recruiting officers and encouraging people to apply
“Policing is a career like no other”
Thames Valley Police are looking to recruit more officers across the region and is encouraging people in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire to apply.
The force says, ‘we’re looking for those who want to serve, protect, and stand up for what’s right’.
It adds that, ‘every role in our force contributes to the mission of building trust, fighting crime, and serving victims’.
PC Sylvia Masih-Gill has been working in policing for 28 years, she says “policing is a career like no other”.
She added that the role has “really opened my eyes up to see different parts of society; the good, the bad, the ugly.
“It also makes me appreciate that, yes there is a lot of bad out there – but there is also a lot of good”.
PC Masih-Gill also says, “every individual has got skills that can be used in policing.
“For us in Thames Valley, we are such a big organisation that whatever skill set you have, there is a space for you.
“Every skill set makes up the team and that's really important, but I think something that you've got to have is personal resilience.”
She adds that despite the job being tough at times, it’s an extremely rewarding role:
“Some of the jobs that I've gone to and found most rewarding, or felt like, yes, I did something good today - they're not things that people would ordinarily think are happy things.
“It's just sometimes going above, over and beyond that's given me the most satisfaction. I've gone home and thought, I'm really happy with what I've done today because I’ve been able to help a family that were in need.”
