Students across Oxfordshire receive their A-Levels results
29 students at Lord William's School achieved three or more grades at, or equivalent to, A* or A
We’ve been at Lord Williams's School in Thame who’ve been congratulating their students on their hard-earned results.
29 students at the school achieved three or more grades at, or equivalent to, A* or A.
Nazar Khamil moved to Oxfordshire from Ukraine during the war with Russia and says he struggled speaking English “in daily life and just going to the shop”.
Now, he has achieved an incredible two A’s and a B and is set to study at Manchester University.
Nazar said: “I’m so shocked, so shocked because in Year 12 I was just getting E’s and D’s, and I was hardly understanding the lessons.
“Somehow, I progressed and I got AAB. I'm so shocked that I'm going to Manchester next year.”
He added: “My family are so proud. I did even batter than in my predictive grades, so I'm so proud of myself.”
Merle Cox is one of six students from Lord Williams’s and who will be going on to study at either Oxford or Cambridge University.
She will be reading Earth science Oxford and says, “I've fallen in love with my subjects, and I've wanted to go to Oxford for around a decade.”
Ms Cox added: “I'm so proud and I've had quite a difficult year as I’ve had a lot going on at home.
“To be able to overcome that and to say that I've got into Oxford with everything else going on in my life, I'm just so proud of myself. I didn't think it was going to happen and I'm in total shock.”
Neil Dimbleby, Headteacher of Lord Williams’s School said: “This is an excellent set of results – many congratulations to all our students! I would like to thank both the staff and our wider school community for their support of our Year 13 students which made these results possible. Our students have worked hard for their success and thoroughly deserve it.”
Sean Wilson, Head of Sixth Form, said: "At our core, we are a fully inclusive school that celebrates every individual, and today’s results reflect the hard work, talent, and determination of all our students.
“Whether in A-levels, BTECs, or Cambridge Technical Qualifications, our young people have achieved fantastic outcomes, and we are thrilled to see them thrive across such a wide range of subjects.
“This success is a testament not only to their commitment but also to the outstanding dedication of our teaching and support staff, and the unwavering encouragement from parents and carers. We could not be prouder of what our students have accomplished."
