South Oxfordshire man jailed for child sex offences
Ryan Macer, aged 36, of Betteridge Close, Kingston Bagpuize, was jailed for five years
Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, a man from South Oxfordshire has been jailed for child sex offences.
Ryan Macer, aged 36, of Betteridge Close, Kingston Bagpuize, was jailed for five years following a hearing at Oxford Crown Court on Friday (16/5).
In an earlier hearing at the same court, Macer pleaded guilty to six counts of sexual activity with a child, three counts of possession of indecent images and one count each of meeting a child following grooming, sexual communication with a child, and possession of extreme pornography.
In November 2023, Macer befriended a teenage girl over Snapchat. He bought her gifts and groomed her so she met with him on multiple occasions in the Oxford area until his initial arrest in March last year.
While on police bail, Macer continued to offend by meeting up with the victim.
Macer was also found to have indecent images children and extreme pornography on his digital devices.
Macer was charged on 22 September last year.
Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Sarah Church, of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit, said: “Ryan Macer is a dangerous predator; he groomed his victim over social media, preying on her vulnerabilities for his own sexual gain.
“This verdict should send a clear message to anyone committing these crimes in our communities: you won’t get away with them and we will be resolute in pursing justice for the victims you have caused serious harm to.”
