£5.1m plans to regenerate Bicester Market Square look set to go ahead
They were approved by Cherwell District Council during a meeting on Tuesday 2 September
Abstract designs for the £5.1m regeneration of a town's market square have been approved by Cherwell District Council.
The Bicester Market Square improvement project has been in the public domain for many years: A report to the Executive was presented on the 4th of September 2023
Cherwell District Council invited residents and local businesses to have their say on three design options in February.
Completion is expected by summer 2027.
Councillor Lesley McLean, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Finance, Property, and Regeneration, said: "We estimate that it will take approximately 12-18 months for the pre-project development work, with archaeological investigations being an important factor in this historic area.
The project programme estimates to start the work in the Market Square itself in Spring 2026 and will take around 12-18 months to complete.”
