Police appeal for witnesses after dangerous dog and theft incident in Oxford

Victim injured and dog required veterinary care after attack outside The Gatehouse

Thames Valley Police is appealing for information, after an incident involving a dangerous dog and theft in Oxford.

It happened at around 8.30pm on Tuesday, 25th November, as the victim, a man in his fifties, was walking his Schnauzer along the footpath outside The Gatehouse on Woodstock Road.

The offender, walking a black Staffordshire Bull Terrier type dog on a lead, allowed their dog to attack the victim’s pet.

During efforts to separate the dogs, the victim dropped his iPad, which was then stolen by the same offender.

Injuries reported in the incident

The victim sustained injuries, but did not require hospital treatment.

His dog, however, required veterinary care due to injuries sustained in the attack but has since been discharged.

Offender description

The offender is described as a white man, approximately 5ft 5ins tall, of medium build, with blonde balding hair and an untidy beard. He was wearing a light-coloured coat.

Police appeal for witnesses

Investigating officer, PC Henry North, urged anyone with information to come forward, particularly those who may have dashcam or CCTV footage from the area around the time of the incident.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident or has information that may assist us to please get in touch,” PC North said.

“We urgently appeal to anyone who was in the area to check dash cam or CCTV footage, as even the smallest detail could be vital to our investigation.

“Anyone with information should call 101 or make an online report, via our website, quoting crime reference number 43250601867.”
