Sir Kier Starmer sends condolences after Bicester Motion fire during PMQ's
Three people were tragically killed at the fire in Oxfordshire last week
The Prime Minister spoke in parliament today to send his condolences after three people were tragically killed at the fire in Oxfordshire last week.
A fire broke out at Bicester Motion on Buckingham Road last Thursday evening, with the Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue service being called to the scene.
Two firefighters, 30-year-old Jennie Logan and 38-year-old Martyn Sadler, were killed in the fire.
David Chester, a 57-year-old father-of-two who worked at the site, was also killed.
Two firefighters remain in hospital after suffering serious injuries and are both in a stable condition according to Thames Valley Police and Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue.
The nation and local community are continuing to mourn the tragedy, and tributes and heartfelt messages have been sent from all over the county.
Before starting Prime Ministers Questions, Keir Starmer said: “My deepest condolences, and I’m sure those of the whole house, are with the family and friends of Jenny, Martin and David, tragically killed in the fire in Bicester last week.”
He later added that it was “very important at a moment like this that the house comes together”.
Ed Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrats, said: “I know from my honourable friend the member for Bicester and Woodstock how deeply the close-knit community there has been affected by this tragedy.
“Firefighters Martyn Sadler and Jennie Logan were true heroes, as was David Chester, and I hope the full prayers and thoughts of house are with their loved ones, and with the two firefighters still in hospital.”
