Oxfordshire parents and carers invited to share views on school transport
It's as a meeting over provision for those with special educational needs and disabilities takes place
Parents and carers of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are invited to attend a transport listening event to share their experiences and help shape the future of home to school transport in Oxfordshire.
The council tells us it makes arrangements for approximately 1,700 children and young people, aged four to 19, to be transported to and from school each day using minibus and taxi vehicles.
Held online, the meeting involving several organisations will take place on Thursday 17th October, between 11am - 1pm.
Councillor Kate Gregory, Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for SEND Improvement, said:
“We’re keen to hear the thoughts and experiences of parents and carers, so we can find ways to do things better.
“While it’s an important opportunity for views to be heard, issues raised will not be resolved on the day. However, I give my commitment that we will carefully consider everyone’s feedback.”
The event will focus on three principal areas:
What’s working well and what needs improving.
Enhancing communication between parents, Oxfordshire County Council and taxi companies.
Looking at the challenges that exist with current travel arrangements, and how things can be done better.
