Oxford man charged after police officer knocked unconscious during arrest

The officer suffered multiple facial fractures.

A 52-year-old man has been charged after a police officer was knocked unconscious during an arrest in Oxford.

Gabriel Chamberlain, of Southfield Park, Oxford, faces charges of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent to resist lawful apprehension, section 35 causing bodily harm by wanton or furious driving, and possession of a bladed article.

The charges follow an incident on 16th November 2025 at the junction of Hockmore Street and Crowell Road, in which a police officer was injured after being struck by a bicycle. The officer suffered multiple facial fractures and was hospitalised but has since been discharged.

Chamberlain was remanded in custody and appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on 18th November. He was further remanded and is now due to appear at Oxford Crown Court on 19th December 2025.
