Man who sexually assaulted woman in Chipping Norton convicted
A man, who sexually assaulted a woman whilst working as an emergency care assistant in Chipping Norton, has been convicted.
A man has been convicted of sexual assault in Chipping Norton.
Marcus Gunn, aged 58, of Church End, in Swerford, was found guilty of sexual assault and assault by penetration following a four-day hearing at Oxford Crown Court on Friday 14th June.
In December 2022, whilst acting in his role as an emergency care assistant, Gunn sexually assaulted a patient, a woman in her fifties, in the back of an ambulance whilst escorting her to hospital.
He was charged on 3 May, last year.
He will be sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on 9th September.
Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Victoria Griffiths, based at Banbury Police Station, said: “I would like to thank the victim in this case for coming forward and commend her bravery during this investigation.
“She was subjected to a horrendous assault whilst vulnerable and in a position where she should have been able to rely on care and compassion.
“She was entitled to trust Mr Gunn in his role as an emergency care assistant.
“Mr Gunn abused his position to commit these abhorrent crimes.
“I hope that his conviction demonstrates that reports of this nature are taken seriously and will be thoroughly investigated.”
