A man has pleaded guilty to a number of driving offences following a serious road traffic collision, which occurred on New Years’ Eve on the A420 in Watchfield, near Shrivenham.

Mohsin Khan, aged 23, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to a count each of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drink, driving a motor vehicle without insurance, driving while disqualified and causing serious injury by driving while disqualified.

At 10.05pm on New Years’ Eve (31/12), Khan was driving a black VW Golf, which left the carriageway of the A420, hitting trees before ending up on its roof back in the middle of the road.

A 25-year-old female passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and she currently remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Khan was arrested at the scene and was charged yesterday morning.

Appearing in court later the same day, Khan admitted the offences.

He has been remanded in custody to appear for sentencing at Oxford Crown Court on 30 January.
