An inquest is set to open today after an elderly couple were found dead at a property in Oxfordshire last week.
Police were called to Milton, near Abingdon, at around 19:00 BST on 15 September where the bodies of David Hoskins, aged 80, and Zena Hoskins, aged 77, were found dead at a property.
Mr Nicholas Graham a coroner at Oxford Coroner's Court, will formally open Mr and Mrs Hoskins inquest today (Thursday, September 25).
Liz Cruse, parish clerk, said on behalf of the council: "Milton Parish Council is shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Zena and David Hoskins.
"Zena and David were longstanding, popular figures within the Milton community.
"Zena was twice chair of the parish council and only recently stepped down from the council to retire.
"We would like to send our sincere condolences to the family at this very difficult time."
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: "Their family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, our thoughts are very much with the family at this extremely difficult time.
“The investigation is ongoing… we would ask that people do not speculate and can confirm that at this time no-one else is being sought in relation to this incident.”
Margaret Maytham, a local resident in Milton, told our reporter: "It's been a terrible shock, and a lot of people are very upset about it.
"They were very private people, I think, and it is a shock that the place is full of police and things."
