Hundreds saddle up for Bike Oxford to raise vital funds for charity
Cyclists are raising money by today for Oxfordshire Hospice
Cyclists from across Oxford and beyond are taking to the streets today for Bike Oxford- an annual event that sees participants ride routes ranging from 13 to 78 miles.
It's an event that raises money for Oxfordshire Hospice.
Among many cyclists is Tom Gilbey, a familiar face on social media known for his viral wine-tasting videos.
Tom is riding in memory of his Mum, raising money for Sobell House Hospice, who cared for her in her final days. He hopes that other families will also be able to benefit from the same care that his Mum received:
"Dying isn't easy, but Sobell House somehow managed to bring peace and even humour to a hard experience."
"I remember my Mum chuckling a few times on her way out and that wouldn't have happened without the amazing care we received."
Tom became a fundraising sensation in 2024 when he completed the London Marathon while tasting 25 wines along the route and raising a grand £32,000 for the hospice.
Now he's back, this time in cycling action along a 25-mile route as part of Team Sobell.
Sobell House is encouraging participants to raise £184- just enough to fund eight hours of expert nursing care.
Cyclists competing today will receive a Sobell-branded top, support along the route and a well earned goody bag at the finish line.
