Oxfordshire hospitality workers to keep all 'tip' money from today
Bosses can no longer keep back tips thanks to new law
Restaurants across Oxfordshire are now banned from withholding workers' tips from cash or card payments.
A new law coming into force from today means businesses must now pass on tips to employees without any deductions, and what they earn won't count towards the minimum wage. However, income tax still has to be paid on tips and National Insurance may also have to be paid.
Before today, bosses could choose whether to hold onto tips made via card themselves or pass it on to employees.
However, the next time you go out to a restaurant and leave a tip - you can be rest assured that those serving the food will get 100% of it.
