Oxford woman killed in M4 collision

Police say the vehicle involved left the road and hit a tree.

A woman from Oxford has died and two people are in a life threatening condition following a collision on the M4 yesterday morning.

The emergency services were called to the M4 westbound between junctions 15 and 16 at approximately 11.50am following a report that a Volvo S40 had left the carriageway and hit a tree. The passenger in the front seat, a woman in her 60s from Oxford, died at the scene.

The male driver and a female passenger aged in her 20s have both been taken to Southmead Hospital in a life threatening condition. A male passenger in his 30s received an arm injury in the crash.

Specialist trained police officers are supporting the next of kin of those involved. Officers are asking for anyone who witnessed the collision or may have dash cam footage to contact the Serious Collision Investigation team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 127.
