Further arrest as police investigate Oxford stabbing

Officers investigating the attempted murder of a man in Barton last week have made a further arrest.

A 15-year-old boy from Headington was arrested on Monday (March 4th) on suspicion of attempted murder.

He has since been released on conditional police bail while the investigation continues.

The victim, a man in his twenties, sustained several stab wounds in the incident in Edgecombe Road at around 11.35pm on Thursday 29th February and was taken to hospital.

Following treatment, he has now been discharged.

Another man, aged 26 and from Oxford, who was arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent and resisting a constable has since been released on police bail.

Detective Inspector Krista Thompson of Oxford CID said:

“Thankfully, the victim’s condition was not life-threatening and he has now been discharged from hospital.

“We have made a further arrest in connection with this incident and I would like to reassure the community that we are making good progress with the investigation."
