A reported fire incident at the Randolph Hotel in Oxford is now scaling down.

Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue say it was a very small fire in an electrical unit in the basement which was contained.

There was some smoke in basement and some light smoke logging elsewhere in the hotel. Everybody was evacuated successfully when the alarm was raised.

There are reports of one person suffering with smoke inhalation.

Thames Valley Police and fire crews from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue were called to the scene this morning (Friday 13 December).

Beaumont Street was closed in the city but has now reopened.

Earlier this morning two streets in the city were closed whilst emergency services investigated.

The 150 room hotel suffered a fire back in 2015.
