Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Oxford.

At around 10.45pm yesterday (26/6) the victim, a man in his 20s, was stationary in his car on Church Way in Iffley when a man holding a knife approached him and opened his car door. A struggle took place in which injuries were caused to the victim’s finger and leg. During the incident the car, an orange Nissan Micra, went on to collide with multiple other vehicles.

Following the collision a second man approached and threw a liquid into the victim’s face, before he was able to get out of his car and call for help. Both men involved were then seen to run from the scene of the accident into the church yard at the end of Church Way. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Detective Inspector Rob Platt, of Oxfordshire’s Priority Crime Team, said: “I believe there were a number of people in the area at the time of this incident and am appealing to anybody who witnessed what happened to please contact us.

Officers will be in the area carrying out enquiries and I would urge anyone with questions, concerns or information to please speak to them.

“Anybody with any information that may assist us is urged to contact Thames Valley Police, either online or by calling 101, quoting reference 43250319384.
