Body in river is missing Witney women, police say
Her death is being treated as unexplained but it is not believed to be suspicious.
Thames Valley Police Officers searching for a missing person say they have sadly recovered the body of a woman from the River Windrush. The body was recovered in the evening of Tuesday 30th April.
Although formal identification is yet to take place, officers say the woman is believed to be Iona, aged 76, who has been missing from Witney since 12th February.
Her death is currently being treated as unexplained but it is not believed to be suspicious.
Detective Inspector James Holden-White said:
“We are currently supporting the woman’s next of kin and our thoughts remain with them at this incredibly difficult time.
“I would like to thank everyone who shared our appeal.
“It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of this tragic outcome.”
