Police searching for a missing person in Oxfordshire say a body has been found.

The man's body was found in Abingdon Sunday 6th October at around 12.40pm.

Formal identification is yet to take place but officers believe the man to be missing person 53 year old Berinsfield man Dean, who was reported missing from Heyford Hill, Oxford on Saturday 6th September.

Detective Sergeant Nathan Adby, of Abingdon CID, said:

“Extensive enquiries and searches have been ongoing for Dean since he was reported missing, and very sadly, a body has been located this afternoon by officers and colleagues from Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire.

“Although formal identification has not yet taken place, we believe this to be Dean. His next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by officers.

“Our thoughts are with the family at this very distressing time.

“The death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
