Appeal for witnesses after serious assault at Oxford

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Barton, Oxford.

Officers are on the scene of the incident, which occurred at around 11.35pm last night (Thursday February 29th) in Edgecombe Road, Oxford.

A man has sustained several stab wounds and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition at this time.

One man, aged 26 and from Barton, has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent and obstructing/resisting a constable in the execution of their duty.

He remains in police custody.

Detective Inspector Krista Thompson of Oxford CID said:

“I fully appreciate that this incident will cause concern in the local community and you may see additional officers in the area as a result.

“We have had a significant scene-watch in place with Bayswater Road closed between Edgecombe Road and the Headington roundabout for investigations."
